Geisinger names new chief medical officer, executive VP

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health has named Jason Mitchell, MD, as its new executive vice president and chief medical officer.

According to a Jan. 23 news release by the organization, Dr. Mitchell will take over the role March 24. Dr. Mitchell is a practicing family medicine physician and has worked at Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque, N.M., for the last 20 years.

He will succeed Edward Hartle, MD, who announced his plans to retire last July.
