2 new chief medical officer appointments

Burkhard Blank, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer and executive vice president of research and development for biopharmaceutical company MannKind.

Dr. Blank joins MannKind from Pharnext SA, where he also served as chief medical officer and head of research and development, according to a May 24 news release. He previously spent seven years in the same position at Acorda Therapeutics.

Meanwhile, Marc Rabner, MD, was named inaugural chief medical officer of Crisp Shared Services, an organization providing technology infrastructure and other core services to health information exchanges across six states.

Dr. Rabner currently practices as a pediatrician at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and has served as a clinical adviser to Crisp for the past three years, according to a May 24 news release. He previously served as a pediatric hospitalist at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
