Here are eight physicians who made announcements to move into or out of the CEO role at hospitals and health systems in September, as reported by Becker’s:
1. David Callendar, MD, plans to retire at the end of 2026 as president and CEO of Houston-based Memorial Hermann Health System.
2. Shekar Kurpad, MD, PhD, was inaugurated as president and CEO of The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
3. David Skorton, MD, plans to retire as president and CEO of the Association of American Medical Colleges on June 30.
4. Steve Shapiro, MD, was appointed CEO of Los Angeles-based Keck Medicine of USC, effective Sept. 24.
5. Micki Lyons, DNP, RN, is no longer CEO of Crook County Medical Services District, which includes Crook County Hospital in Sundance, Wyo., after the board voted not to renew her contract.
6. Amanda Logue, MD, was named CEO of Ochsner Lafayette (La.) General Medical Center.
7. Matthew Edwards, MD, was appointed area president and CEO of Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.
8. Ganesh Palapattu, MD, will be recommended as interim executive vice president for medical affairs and CEO of Michigan Medicine by University of Michigan President Domenico Grasso at the university’s Sept. 17 board of regents meeting.
