Virginia Tech appoints Dr. Isaiah Johnson obstetrics and gynecology chair

Isaiah Johnson, MD, has been appointed chair of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, Va.

Dr. Johnson has served as interim chair since 2021, according to a March 30 news release from the school. He first arrived at Virginia Tech in 2009 and is a practicing OB-GYN specialist with a focus on high-risk pregnancies.

Dr. Johnson was selected in 2019 as a specialty certification examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was also the recipient of the 2021 national faculty award for excellence from the Council on Residency Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
