“The American College of Physicians is encouraged to see that the proposed 2024 federal budget that President Biden released this week recognizes the critical role that the Medicare program plays in keeping Americans healthy. We agree with the president that keeping the Medicare program solvent is of utmost importance,” the statement, written by organization President Ryan Mire, MD, read.
The statement listed key points the organization supports, including provisions to lower out-of-pocket costs for beneficiaries for prescription drugs and behavioral health services.
The American College of Physicians’ membership includes 160,000 internal medicine physicians, subspecialists and medical students, making it the largest medical specialty organization in the country.
