Where hospital physicians are the happiest: Medscape

Fifty-three percent of hospitalists in the West reported being “very happy” or “somewhat happy,” according to Medscape’s Hospitalist Lifestyle & Happiness Report 2023” released Feb. 22.

Medscape surveyed nearly 9,200 physicians across 29 specialties. 

 Here’s the percentage of hospitalists who reported being “very happy” or “somewhat happy” by region:

  • West: 53 percent
  • New England: 52 percent 
  • Middle-Atlantic: 47 percent
  • South Atlantic: 45 percent
  • East North Central: 43 percent 
  • West North Central: 39 percent 
  • West South Central: 37 percent
  • Pacific: 34 percent 
  • East South Central: 32 percent
