The AMA Community Health Impact Lab is accepting applications for its $1 million micro grant initiative, which will fund up to 20 physician-led projects aimed at improving community health.

According to a Jan. 21 news release, each project will receive $50,000 to address urgent health challenges such as food insecurity, maternal health and caregiving. Up to 20 initiatives will be selected for the grant.

Eligible applicants must be actively licensed physicians in the U.S. or its territories and must apply through the organizations that employ them. Free clinics and federally qualified health centers may also apply, provided they designate a physician principal investigator.

Proposals must demonstrate feasibility, measurable impact within a 12-month period and potential for broader application. Required materials include a two-page CV or biosketch for key personnel, letters of support, a detailed budget and narrative, and three to five keywords.

Submissions are due March 1, 2026. Recipients will be notified by April 30, 2026, with projects expected to begin by July.
