Missouri health department names 1st chief medical officer

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services appointed Heidi Miller, MD, as its first chief medical officer.

Dr. Miller will provide medical guidance, serve as a liaison between medical associates and physicians, develop new programs and build on the healthcare system in the state, according to a Jan. 12 news release from the agency. 

Dr. Miller most recently served as the medical director for the St. Louis Regional Health Commission and the St. Louis Integrated Health Network. She was also a primary care provider at Family Care Health Centers in St. Louis.
