Dr. Vora agreed to pay $931,500 to settle claims from the U.S. Attorney’s Office that he sent patients unnecessary Medicare-reimbursed orders for testing in exchange for kickbacks from National Molecular Testing Corp.
The alleged actions took place from roughly May 1, 2012, to March 31, 2013, and resulted in an estimated $3 million in false claims made to Medicare, according to the 2020 civil complaint from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky.
The complaint, which was made to enforce the Anti-Kickback Statute and the False Claims Act, alleges that Dr. Vora received at least $335,700 from the laboratory.
