Dr. James Callaghan named COO of Franciscan Alliance

James Callaghan, MD, has been promoted to senior vice president and chief operating officer of Mishawaka, Ind.–based Franciscan Alliance, which oversees 12 hospitals across Illinois and Indiana. Dr. Callaghan will assume the role Jan. 1.

He has served as CEO of Franciscan Health’s central Indiana hospitals since 2015, according to Inside Indiana Business. During his time in this role, he led an establishment of medical complexes in Carmel, Greenwood and Indianapolis.

Dr. Callaghan is an internal medicine physician who has held a variety of other leadership positions within Franciscan Health, including president and chief operating officer of Franciscan Health Michigan City.

CFO of Franciscan Health Central Indiana, Jay Brehm, will take over Dr. Callaghan’s position as president and CEO of the division in the interim.
