2 neurotrauma specialists join Cleveland Clinic Akron General

Two neurotrauma surgeons have joined Cleveland Clinic Akron General in Ohio, according to a Dec. 19 release from Cleveland Clinic.

The first hire is Enyinna Nwachuku, MD, who is the newly appointed director of neurotrauma at Akron General and will lead the expansion of neurological care. Dr. Nwachuku received his degree and completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Dr. Gregory Hawryluk joins Akron General from the University of Manitoba in Canada. He currently serves as the president of the Brain Trauma Foundation and is an adjunct professor at Uniformed Services University, a U.S. federal government health science university in Bethesda, Md. 

Dr. Nwachuku and Dr. Hawryluk will join Sarah Woodrow, MD, in developing a neurotrauma center of excellence at Akron General. Dr. Woodrow joined Akron General in 2020 and currently serves as chair of clinical neurosciences.
