Though compensation rose faster for female physicians than male physicians this year, the wage gap still sits at 32 percent, favoring male physicians.
For female primary care physicians, wages were up 8.1 percent to $228,000. For female specialists, wages were up 8.5 percent to $307,000.
Female physicians make the largest salary between ages 45 and 49 on average, reaching $303,000 a year.
Forty-eight percent of female physicians feel underpaid, while 40 percent of male physicians feel underpaid, according to the report.
