The report, which was conducted by researchers at the University of Connecticut and Loyola University Chicago, found that the difference in payments between physician-owned hospitals and traditional hospitals was between 8.6% and 15.2%.
The report pulled data from 186 physician-owned hospitals to compare with traditional hospitals in the same hospital referral region, controlling for patient demographics and comorbidity levels.
