CVS Health to lay off 2,700 across 9 states

CVS Health will  eliminate 5,000 “non-customer-facing positions” across nine states, which represent about 2 percent of CVS’ workforce of about 300,000 people nationwide.

The layoffs include 770 employees in Rhode Island, 294 in Illinois, 288 in Florida, 167 in Texas, 167 in New York, 157 in Pennsylvania and 521 Aetna employees in Connecticut beginning Oct. 21. Other layoffs include 207 employees in New Jersey starting Nov. 15 and 134 in Arizona, totaling over 2,700.
