University of Texas Medical Branch appoints new president

Jochen Reiser, MD, PhD, has been appointed president of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, effective Aug. 15.

Dr. Reiser joins UTMB from Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, according to a May 24 news release. While at Rush, he served as chair of the department of internal medicine and held the Ralph C. Brown, MD, Professor of Medicine position at Rush University in Chicago.

Dr. Reiser previously served as a professor of medicine, anatomy and cell biology, vice chair for research in the department of medicine and chief of the nephrology and hypertension division at the University of Miami before joining Rush in 2012.
