MaineHealth names chief medical officer

Chris Thomson, MD, has been appointed chief medical and transformation officer of Portland-based MaineHealth.

Dr. Thomson joins MaineHealth from Centura Health in Denver, where he served as vice president and physician executive since 2021, according to a May 11 news release. He previously spent 12 years with Centra Health in Lynchburg, Va.

As chief medical and information officer, Dr. Thomson will be responsible for chief medical officer duties in addition to having the additional responsibility of innovating care delivery and supporting organizational transformation, the release said.
