Chief Medical Officers

Muskegon, Mich.-based Hackley Community Care has appointed Byron Varnado, MD, as its new chief medical officer, Shoreline Media reported Oct. 14. 

HCA Florida Ocala Hospital has appointed Dave MacIntyre, DO, as its new chief medical officer. He will also serve as CMO of HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, also in Ocala, effective immediately. 

Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center named Scott Schissel, MD, PhD, its chief medical officer, ROI-NJ reported Aug. 8.

West Virginia University Medicine’s Thomas Hospital (South Charleston) has appointed Michael Sitler, MD, as their vice president and chief medical officer, effective July 15. 

Here are nine chief medical officers that have been named in the last 10 days, as reported by Becker's:

Joe Galante, MD, was named chief medical officer of hospital clinical care services at Sacramento, Calif.-based UC Davis, according to a July 1 LinkedIn post from the health system. 

Ryan Sexton, MD, has been named chief medical officer of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, according to a July 7 report from WCAX3. 

Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Children's Hospital tapped Catherine Krawczeski, MD, as its next chief medical officer.

The Department of Veterans Affairs appointed Susan Bray-Hall, MD, as chief medical officer for its Rocky Mountain Network.

Heartland Whole Health Institute, which is affiliated with Bentonville, Ark.-based Alice L. Walton School of Medicine, appointed John Findley, MD, as its chief medical officer.
